PERFECTION IN THE LEVITICAL PRIESTHOOD

A CHANGE IN THE PRIESTLY SYSTEM

1. There was a change in the priestly system (Hebrews 7:12)

2. Of necessity there must be a change of the law (Hebrews 7:12)

THE CHANGE OF PRIESTHOOD

1. The original
The tribe of Levi

2. The change
The tribe of Judah (Hebrews 7:13)

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

1. He came from the tribe of Judah

2. Moses made no mention of the priesthood with reference to Judah (Hebrews 7:14)

THE MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD

1. Not according to the law of a fleshly commandment (Hebrews 7:15)

2. But according to the law of an endless life (Hebrews 7:16)

THE TESTIMONY OF THE LORD IN THE SCRIPTURES

1. You are a priest forever

2. According to the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:17; Hebrews 5:6; Psalm 110:4)

SIGNIFICANCE TO BE NOTED

1. The former commandment concerning the Levitical priesthood
It has Been annulled (Hebrews 7:18)

a) Because of its weakness
b) Because of it being unprofitable
c) The law made nothing perfect

2. Bringing in of a new law

a) A better hope
b) Through which we draw nearer to God (Hebrews 7:19)
