THE OFFERING OF GIFTS

1. Declaration of the giver

a) Remembering the past (Deuteronomy 26:3-9)

b) Appreciation of the present (Deuteronomy 26:3-9)

c) Offering as a part of worship (Deuteronomy 26:10)

d) Giving with a heart of rejoicing (Deuteronomy 26:11)

e) Giving of the tithe (Deuteronomy 26:12)

f) Giving to the poor and needy (Deuteronomy 26:13)

g) Asking for blessing (Deuteronomy 26:14-15)

2. Giving in the New Testament era

a) The example of the Macedonian church (2 Corinthians 8)

b) Giving of themselves to the Lord first (2 Corinthians 8:5)

c) Then to the support of Paul and ministry (2 Corinthians 8:5)

d) Giving out of poverty (2 Corinthians 8:2)
