Revelation 6

1 Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.”
2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.
3 When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.”
4 Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword.
5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.
6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”
7 When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.”
8 So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.

Revelation 6:1-8

1. What are “seals?”

9 Pause and wonder!
Blind yourselves and be blind!
They are drunk, but not with wine;
They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink.
10 For the LORD has poured out on you
The spirit of deep sleep,
And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets;
And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.
11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.”
And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”
12 Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.”
And he says, “I am not literate.”

Isaiah 29:9-12

a) A seal is called a “Bulla”
b) It is made of wax with a signature on it
c) It was used for official documents
d) It was used for the prophetic writings too

2. Reading of the sacred scrolls

a) Scroll given to a literate person to read
But it cannot be read if the scroll is sealed
b) Scroll given to an illiterate person
It cannot be read because he is not literate

3. A deep sleep problem

a) A judgment from the Lord
b) The word of God is closed even to the seers and prophets
c) Only the Lord can open spiritual eyes to discern and to comprehend
d) This was part of the ministry of the Lord Jesus Isaiah 42:7

THE OPENING OF THE SCROLLS

Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.”

Revelation 6:1

1. The Lamb of God alone can open the sacred scrolls

2. The invitation of one of the living creatures
“Come and see”

3. The Vision of the Four Horsemen (Revelation 6:1-8)

a) The Rider on the white horse
And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.
Revelation 6:2
i) He sat on a horse
ii) He had a bow
iii) He went forth to conquer
iv) He is mistaken as the Lord Jesus
v) Because of the colour of the horse
b) The Rider on the Red Horse
3 When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.”
4 Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword.
Revelation 6:3-4
i) The second seal was opened
ii) Invitation of the second living creature
“Come and see”
iii) The Rider on the Red Horse
iv) He was given a great sword
v) He will cause people to kill one another
vi) Peace will be taken from the earth
