POEMS BASED ON THE GOSPEL OF MARK VOLUME 2 – Charles Tan

#2 HE WAS TRANSFIGURED BEFORE THEM

Jesus graciously called humble folk to follow Him,
He would do a special work in their lives from deep within.
Through His teaching He would enlighten their minds,
But there was always one thing or another that made them blind.

He taught His disciples how to minister with compassion in the heart,
He fed the multitudes, healed the sick but few understood that He was set apart.
He was the Beloved Son of God sent on a Divine Mission to save the lost,
This was a Mission that could only be fulfilled at a very high cost.

The power of Jesus was demonstrated time and time again,
Yet somehow dark doubts and fears still remained!
There was a battle ahead that the disciples must courageously face,
They must dare to deny themselves, take up their cross and Christ embrace.

Jesus graciously revealed Himself to three of His disciples in His transfiguration,
They would have the privilege of seeing Him in His glory and be filled with fascination!
The Teacher they had followed was no ordinary man but the Divine Son of God,
Their faith must no longer waver for this revelation was a special blessing from the Lord.

The Kingdom of God was truly full of glory and power,
Their faith must be further strengthened from that very hour.
The transfiguration confirmed that Jesus was indeed the Son of God,
In that single moment eyes of faith caught a glimpse of the glory of the Lord.
