PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF TRUSTING THE LORD

Two concepts to be carefully studied:

1. Concept of entrusting our spirit to the Lord

Into Your hand I commit my spirit   (Psalm 31:5a)

2. Concept of entrusting our times to the Lord

My times are in Your hand   (Psalm 31:15a)

INTO YOUR HAND I COMMIT MY SPIRIT

1. This was the prayer of the Lord Jesus Christ

Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit   (Luke 23:46)

2. Uttering this prayer

a) When life seems to come to the very end
i) The last breath
ii) The last words of life
b) A prayer of supreme trust
i) Total and complete
ii) Only God Himself is left to think about
c) Tracing this concept before the end of life
i) This involves learning “obedience”   (Hebrews 5:8)
ii) Trusting God as One who hears   (Hebrews 5:7)
iii) Practising godly fear   (Hebrews 5:7)
d) Our problems
i) We do not fully trust
ii) We trust ourselves more than we dare to admit
iii) We fall back on our reasoning… our experience

b) To be fathomed
i) Knowledge

c) To be verified

2. In God’s hand

a) No safer place
b) Turning to God
c) Resting in the Lod
d) Believing with all our heart/ soul/ mind/ strength
