THE LAW OF THE SABBATH
1. The Sabbath is to be kept Exodus 31:13
2. It is a sign between God and Israel Exodus 31:13
3. Significance
“I am the LORD who sanctifies you” Exodus 31:13
THE KEEPING OF THE SABBATH COMMANDED
1. You shall keep the Sabbath Exodus 31:14
2. It is holy to you Exodus 31:14
PENALTY FOR BREAKING THE SABBATH
1. The person who profanes it is guilty
By working Exodus 31:14
2. Punishable by death Exodus 31:14
UNDERSTANDING THE WEEK
1. Work shall be done for 6 days Exodus 31:15
2. The 7th Day is the Sabbath of rest Exodus 31:15
3. Added significance
a) The Lord rested on the Seventh Day Exodus 31:17
A PERPETUAL COVENANT SIGN
1. The Sabbath was meant to be a perpetual Covenant between God and Israel Exodus 31:16
2. It is essentially a sign between God and the children of Israel Exodus 31:17
