THE GOLDEN LAMPSTAND
(Menorah)

1. A lampstand of pure gold    Exodus 25:31

2. One talent of gold    Exodus 25:39
Different estimates offered:-

a) 75-100 pounds

b) 45 kg

3. Hammered work    Exodus 25:31
Three parts:

a) Base

b) Shaft

c) Branches with bowls

i) Seven bowls

ii) Almond blossoms

iii) Seven lamps

iv) All made out of one piece

v) Beautiful artistry

vi) Highly skilled artisans needed to make the Golden Lampstand

d) To provide the only source of light for the Tabernacle

4. The Menorah would be placed opposite the Table of Showbread

CARE OF THE GOLDEN MENORAH

1. Pure oil of pressed olives    Exodus 27:20

2. Light to burn continually    Exodus 27:20

3. Aaron and his sons are to tend the Menorah    Exodus 27:21

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GOLDEN LAMPSTAND

1. God as the only Source of Light for Israel

a) Israel needs only God as the Source of Light

b) Care must be taken to look after the Lampstand

2. Light:

a) Knowledge

b) From His laws and statutes

c) Enlightenment

d) Israel to be the light of the world

e) Veiled Messianic significance: Jesus as the Light of the world
