MESSAGE TO KING SIHON OF THE AMORITES

1. Passing through the land of the Amorite

a) Diplomatic channel
b) Permission to travel through the land of the Amorites

2. Asking to travel on the King’s Highway

a) Will not attack fields or vineyards
b) Will not drink water from the Amorite wells   (Numbers 21:22)

REPLY OF SIHON

1. Rejection of request   (Numbers 21:23)

2. Called for his army to attack Israel   (Numbers 21:23)

WAR BETWEEN ISRAEL AND THE AMORITES

1. Israel defeated Sihon and the army of the Amorites   (Numbers 21:24)

a) Israel took possession of the land of the Amorites
b) Heshbon (city)
c) Villages

2. Old Proverbial saying   (Numbers 21:27-29)

a) Recalling the time when Sihon captured Heshbon of the Moabites
b) Moab was defeated by Sihon king of the Amorites

3. New proverbial saying   (Numbers 21:30)

a) Heshbon had perished
b) Land of the Amorites has been laid waste

4. Israel had now occupied the land of the Amorites   (Numbers 21:31-32)

CONQUEST OF KING OG OF BASHAN

1. Israel came to the land of King Og of Bashan

2. Og led his army to battle Israel at Edrei   (Numbers 21:32-33)

GOD’S WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO MOSES

1. Do not fear King Og   (Numbers 21:34)

2. He has been delivered into the hand of Israel

3. Og would be defeated as Sihon was defeated

4. Og and the land of Basham was soundly defeated   (Numbers 21:35)
