A SPECIAL SERVICE
1. In anticipation of the Lord making His appearance at the Tabernacle (Leviticus 8:4)
2. Preparation was needed
3. Moses’ instruction to Aaron and his sons
a) Training them to anticipate the Lord appearing to them as His priests
b) All the offerings must be carefully prepared (Leviticus 8:1-4)
COMPLIANCE OF AARON AND HIS SONS
1.They brought what Moses commanded (Leviticus 8:5)
2. The congregation (Leviticus 8:5)
a) Drew near
b) Stood before the Lord
3. Moses’ exhortation
a) Explanation
b) Checking details
c) Ensuring that all the offerings were prepared and fulfilled
d) The atonement offering especially (Leviticus 8:6-7)
AARON AND HIS SONS
1. The sin offering for himself (Leviticus 8:8-14)
2. The people’s offering (Leviticus 8:15-21)
3. These were prescribed (Leviticus 8:16)
THE BLESSING OF THE PEOPLE
1. He blessed the people at the end of the worship (Leviticus 8:22-23)
2. Lifting up his hands in a symbolic gesture
THE APPEARANCE OF THE LORD
1. The glory of the Lord appeared (Leviticus 8:23)
2. The offerings were consumed by fire (Leviticus 8:24)
RESPONSE OF THE PEOPLE
1. Special joy
2. In awe of the Lord
a) Shouted
b) Fell on their faces (Leviticus 8:24)
