Text: Proverbs 19

Dear Parents,

CHILDREN ARE GREAT LEARNERS
All educationists agree that children have great learning skills!

1. They learn out of sheer curiosity.

2. They learn because of innate desire to know things.

3. They learn because of basic intelligence.

4. Their learning skills are enhanced when parents teach well.

5. The “sky is the limit” if children are inspired to pursue knowledge.

THE DANGER OF CESSATION OF LEARNING
All too often, the learning curve seems to flatten out after a while! We must be alert to the danger of this occurring!

Cease learning to instruction, my son,
And you will stray from words of knowledge.

Proverbs 19:27

Is this danger real? The sobering truth is “Yes!”

1. The danger of cessation of learning must be picked up

a) By parents

b) By children

2. The consequences must be carefully understood

a) There is straying from good knowledge.

b) The implications of straying from good knowledge are so obvious they are not stated!

A GREAT AND ENDLESS CHALLENGE OF ENCOURAGING LEARNING
All good parents must understand and appreciate the challenge of encouraging their children to pursue knowledge throughout their lives! Parents would set a great example when they take up the challenge to have a deep love for knowledge. Somehow, the best inspiration comes from a great personal example. Let us inspire our children to have the keenest love for acquiring knowledge!
