I will run the course of Your commandments

(I) EXPERIENCES IN OUR LIFE ON EARTH

1. Stranger

“I am a stranger in the earth;
Do not hide Your commandments from me.”
Psalm 119:19

2. Proud people

“You rebuke the proud- the cursed,
Who stray from Your commandments”
Psalm 119:21

“Princes also sit and speak against me,
But Your servant meditates on Your statutes.”
Psalm 119:23

3. A difficult life

a) Low moments

“My soul clings to the dust;
Revive me according to Your word.”
Psalm 119:25

b) Sad moments

“My soul melts from heaviness;
Strengthen me according to Your word.”
Psalm 119:28

(II) SUCCEEDING IN LIFE

1. A bountiful life

“Deal bountifully with Your servant,
That I may live and keep Your word.”
Psalm 119:17

2. Surviving difficult times

“Remove from me reproach and contempt,
For I have kept Your testimonies.”
Psalm 119:22

3. A life of Deep Wisdom

“…Teach me Your statutes.
Make me understand the way of Your precepts;
So shall I meditate on Your wonderful works.”
Psalm 119:26b-27

4. A life of strength

“My soul melts from heaviness;
Strengthen me according to Your word.”
Psalm 119:28

(III) A LIFE OF SIGNIFICANCE

1. A life of truth

“Remove from me the way of lying,
And grant me Your law graciously.”
Psalm 119:29

“I have chosen the way of truth;
Your judgments I have laid before me.”
Psalm 119:30

2. A life of powerful perseverance

“I will run the course of Your commandments,
For You shall enlarge my heart.”

(IV) A STERLING EXAMPLE OF ONE WHO HAS RUN HIS COURSE WELL

“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8
