(I) PROPHECY OF “THE DAY OF THE LORD”

Zephaniah 2:14-16

1. Bitter

2. Wrath

3. Trouble and distress

4. Devastation and desolation

5. Darkness and gloominess

6. Clouds and thick darkness

7. Trumpet and alarm

(II) PRONOUNCEMENT OF JUDGMENT OF THE LORD

1. Those who have turned back from following the Lord (Zephaniah 1:6a)

2. Those who have not sought the Lord nor inquired of Him (Zephaniah 1:6b)

3. Those who employ violence to get wealth (Zephaniah 1:9)

4. Those who are settled in complacency (Zephaniah 1:12-13)

5. The rebellious (Zephaniah 3:1-2)

a) Not obeyed

b) Not received correction

c) Not trusted the Lord

d) Not drawn near to the Lord

(III) PROTECTION FROM THE DAY OF WRATH

1. Seek

a) The Lord ( Zephaniah 2:3a )

b) Righteousness ( Zephaniah 2:3b )

c) Humility ( Zephaniah 2:3c )

“It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger” Zephaniah 2:3d

2. Wait

“Therefore wait for Me, says the LORD” Zephaniah 3:8a

a) To judge the nations (Zephaniah 3:8)

b) To restore (Zephaniah 3:9)

c) To build up His people (Zephaniah 3:12)

i) Meek

ii) Humble

iii) Trusting the Lord
