(I) OUR MORTAL LIFE ON EARTH

2. The sufferings of mortal life

a) Perishing ( 2 Corinthians 4:17 )

(II) AN IMMORTAL LIFE PROMISED

1. Apt Descriptions

a) An exceeding and eternal weight of glory (2 Corinthians 4:17)

b) The things which are not seen are eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18)

c) A building from God (2 Corinthians 5:1)

2. Desire for Immortality

a) Groaning for immortality ( 2 Corinthians 5:2a, 4a )

b) Earnest desire ( 2 Corinthians 5:2b )

c) Burdened ( 2 Corinthians 5:4b )

d) Clothed with immortality ( 2 Corinthians 5:4c )

(III) GIVER OF IMMORTALITY

1. God Himself (2 Corinthians 5:5a)

2. The gift of the Holy Spirit as a Guarantee (2 Corinthians 5:5b)

(IV) RAMIFICATIONS OF SUCH A FAITH IN GOD

1. Great confidence (2 Corinthians 5:6)

a) Absent in the body

b) Present with the Lord

c) Great desire to be with the Lord ( 2 Corinthians 5:8 )

2. Walk by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7)

3. Aim of Life: To be well-pleasing to God (2 Corinthians 5:9)

4. Commitment to persuade people to believe in the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:11)
