Ascribe Strength to God

SEEING STRENGTH AS AN ATTRIBUTE OF GOD
“Ascribe strength to God; His excellence is over Israel, and His strength is in the clouds…” Psalm 68:14
1. The Psalmist sought to ascribe God as a God of great strength
2. The presence of God is seen in His works
3. His strength is in the clouds
APPRECIATION OF GOD’S PRESENCE
1. What God has done for Israel in the wilderness
“O God, when You went out before Your people, when You marched through the wilderness…the earth shook…the heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God…” Psalm 68:7-8
2. How God brought about conquest over enemies
“Kings of armies flee, they flee and she who remains at home divide the spoil.” Psalm 68:12
3. How God established Israel as a nation
“They have seen Your procession…” Psalm 68:24
STRENGTHENING FURTHER WHAT HAS BEEN DONE
“Your God has commanded your strength; strengthen, O God, what You have done for us.” Psalm 68:20
“The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people.” Psalm 68:35
1. The Lord God had commanded strength for Israel
2. The call for the Lord to strengthen what He had done
3. The Lord’s awesomeness can be discovered even more
4. The Lord gives strength and power to His people
APPROPRIATE RESPONSES
1. Praise God for His strength
“Ascribe strength to God;…” Psalm 68:34
“Blessed be God!” Psalm 68:15
2. Pray for further strengthening
“Strengthen, O God, what You have done for us.” Psalm 68:20
3. Seek to be a people of greater strength
“The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people…” Psalm 68:35
