a) Excellence of God’s glory

b) Excellence of God’s name

(II) A PROFOUND CREATION- MANKIND

1. Man in his finiteness

“What is man that You are mindful of him?

And the son of man that You visit him?

But You have made him a little lower than the angels

And You have crowned him with glory and honour” Psalm 8:4-5

2. Messiah as Man

a) Jesus shares with man full humanity

b) He calls Himself “Son of Man”

(III) A PROFOUND APPLICATION

1. Babes and Nursing Infants

2. God’s Plans for them are far more profound than is often realized

Two Special applications

a) David

“You have ordained strength” Psalm 8:2b

b) Jesus

“You have perfected praise” Matthew 21:16c

i) Context of children singing the praise of Jesus

ii) Challenge of the chief priests and scribes concerning the adoration of the children

iii) Citing the Scriptures to check the hostile attitude of the religious leaders

(IV) OUR CHALLENGE

1. To ponder afresh the value of children

2. To pray much more for our children

a) That they will become people of strength

b) That they will have that desire to give praise to the Lord
