THE PRESENTATION OF THE SONS OF JOSEPH

1. Joseph bowed deeply before his father Israel   (Genesis 48:12)

2. He then presented his sons to their grandfather for his blessings   (Genesis 48:13)

a) He took Israel’s right hand to place upon Manasseh (firstborn son)
b) He placed Israel’s left hand upon Ephraim (second son)

3. The crossing of Israel’s hands

a) His right hand was on Ephraim’s head
b) His left hand was on Manasseh’s head

THE DISPLEASURE OF JOSEPH

Genesis 48:17-18

1. He wanted to address the problem

2. He thought that the problem was the poor eyesight of his father

3. He wanted his father to uncross his hands

THE WORDS OF A WISE AND AGED MAN

Genesis 48:19-20

1. Israel refused   (Genesis 48:19)

“I know, I know, my son”

2. Blessing on Manasseh

He will be blessed
a) He also shall become a people
b) He also shall be great

3. Blessing on Ephraim

a) He shall be greater
b) His descendants shall become a multitude of nations

BLESSINGS UTTERED

1. God’s unerring hand to be appreciated

2. His leading is to be trusted

Man may be blind, but not the Lord God!
