Epaphroditus- For the work of Christ, he came close to death

(I) HIGH COMMENDATION

1. Love

As “brother” Philippians 2:25

2. Regard

As “fellow worker” Philippians 2:25

3. Respect

As “fellow soldier” Philippians 2:25

4. Tribute

As “your messenger, the one who ministered to my need” Philippians 2:25

(II) HOLD SUCH MEN IN ESTEEM

1. Selflessly thinking of other all the time

“He was longing for you all, and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick” Philippians 2:26

2. Serving to the point of becoming seriously ill

“For indeed he was sick almost unto death” Philippians 2:27

“For the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me” Philippians 2:29

(III) HOW DO WE PRACTISE THIS REGARD?

1.Identify outstanding servants of God

a) Their character

b) Their deeds

2. Give Indicative honour

a) Privately

b) Publicly

3. Give appropriate support

a) Defend their good name

b) Give full practical support
