(I) IS IT WRONG TO HONOUR FAITHFUL SERVANTS OF THE LORD?

1. The Scriptures are very clear on this subject

The answer is “No!”

2. There are many examples of people who are honoured for their faithful service given to the Lord

(II) WHY ARE SOME MENTIONED AND HONOURED?

1. Because they deserve to be mentioned and honoured

2. Because they are outstanding

3. Because they are good examples meant to be emulated

(III) HONOURING OF TYCHICHUS:

“Tychichus, a beloved brother, faithful minister, and fellow servant in the Lord” Colossians 4:7a

“Tychichus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord” Ephesians 6:21

1. A beloved brother

“A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity” Proverbs 17:17

a) A fellow Christian

b) A friend

c) A brother beloved

2. Faithful minister

a) Serving as a “minister” in humble ministry

b) Serving as a minister in “faithfulness”

c) Sent by Paul as his “messenger” ( Ephesians 6:21-22 )

3. Fellow-servant in the Lord

a) Acknowledged as a fellow-servant

b) Acknowledged by no one less than the apostle Paul

c) Acknowledged “in the Lord”

(IV) OUR CHALLENGE

1. Practise true brotherhood in Christ

2. Practise genuine servanthood in Christ

3. Practise faithfulness in Christ
