(I) THE PROBLEM OF WORRYING

1. A common but major problem

2. A deadly problem if worrying gets out of hand

3. It was so serious that Jesus had to address it (Luke 12)

4. The apostle Paul also had to address this problem (Philippians 4:6-7)

(II) THINGS PEOPLE WORRY ABOUT

1. Worry about life in general (Luke 12:22)

2. Worry about food (Luke 12:22)

3. Worry about clothing (Luke 12:22)

(III) BATTLING THIS TERRIBLE HABIT OF WORRYING ABOUT MUNDANE THINGS

1. Remembering that Life is more than…

a) Remembering that Life is more than food ( Luke 12:23 )

b) Remembering that Life is more than clothing ( Luke 12:23 )

2. Remembering that we are of great value in God’s sight

a) Of greater value than sparrows ( Luke 12:7 )

b) Of greater value than ravens ( Luke 12:24 )

c) Of greater value than lilies ( Luke 12:27 )

3. Remembering that worrying accomplishes nothing

a) It cannot increase height ( Luke 12: 25)

b) It achieves absolutely nothing ( Luke 12:26 )

(IV) A BETTER ALTERNATIVE

1. To deal with the problem of “little faith” (Luke 12:28)

2. To cease from following worldly pursuits (Luke 12:29)

3. To seek the kingdom of God first (Luke 12:31)

4. To believe that God will adequately provide (Luke 12:31)
