The LORD Will Create

THE CLEANSING THAT MUST TAKE PLACE
1. The filth of sin must be cleansed (Isaiah 4:4)
2. The bloodshed of Jerusalem must be purged (Isaiah 4:4)
MEANS OF CLEANSING
1. By the spirit of judgment (Isaiah 4:5)
2. By the spirit of burning (Isaiah 4:5)
3. Meaning: –
a) Not ritualistic cleansing (sacrifices)
b) Sin must be dealt with
i) Deeply
ii) Thoroughly
iii) Judgment of the Lord
iv) Burning as a symbol of purification
THE LORD WILL CREATE
1. Dwelling places in Mount Zion
a) Return of the diaspora (those who were dispersed abroad as slaves)
b) Restoration of the nation in its fulness
c) Blessing of the restored nation planned
2. A cloud and smoke by day
a) Return of the Lord’s glory as in the days of Moses (Exodus 13:21-22)
b) Symbolising His Presence
c) Symbolising His protection
d) Symbolising a special relationship with His people
3. The shining of a flaming fire by night (Exodus 13:21-22)
a) The Protection of the Lord at night
b) He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber not sleep (Psalm 12)
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GLORY OF THE LORD
1. This must not be taken for granted
2. This should cause us to fear the Lord
3. It should cause our hearts to offer praise to the Lord
4. The fear of the Lord should be practised diligently
