To Reconcile All Things to Himself

AN APPRECIATION OF WHO CHRIST JESUS IS

1. He is the image of the invisible God   (Colossians 1:15a)

2. The firstborn over all creation   (Colossians 1:15b)

a) In honour
b) In glory
c) In power
d) In standing

3. He is the Co-Creator   (Colossians 1:16)

a) All created things
b) In heaven and on earth
c) Thrones/ dominions/ principalities/ powers
d) All things created: –
i) Through Him
ii) For Him

4. He is the Eternal One   (Colossians 1:17)

a) He is before all things
b) In Him all things consist

5. He is the Head of the Church   (Colossians 1:18a)

6. He is the firstborn of the dead   (Colossians 1:18b)

7. He is the Pre-eminent One   (Colossians 1:18c)

THE VITAL WORK OF CHRIST JESUS

1. In Christ, the fulness of the Godhead is His   (Colossians 1:19)

2. By Him, He has the power to reconcile all things to Himself   (Colossians 1:19)

3. He has made peace through the blood of His cross   (Colossians 1:20)

THE SPECIAL WORK OF RECONCILIATION HIGHLIGHTED

1. Who may be reconciled?
Alienated and enemies by wicked works- Reconciled   (Colossians 1:21)

2. How was this possible?
In the body of His flesh through death   (Colossians 1:21)

3. What is the result?
To present all believers before God:   (Colossians 1:22)

a) Holy
b) Blameless
c) Above reproach

THE PART OF THE BELIEVER

1. To continue in the faith   (Colossians 1:23)

2. Grounded and steadfast   (Colossians 1:23)

3. Not moved away from the hope of the gospel   (Colossians 1:23)
