(I) JUSTIFICATION

1. Working definition of “Justification”

a) God declares sinners “justified” through faith ( Romans 4:5 )

b) God imputes righteousness to sinners ( Romans 4:6 )

2. How does this work?

a) By grace ( Romans 3:24 )

b) By faith ( Romans 3:28 )

c) By blood ( Romans 5:9 )

d) By His knowledge ( Isaiah 53:11b )

(II) BY HIS KNOWLEDGE (Isaiah 53:11b)

1. Knowledge that He must be the perfect offering for sin (Isaiah 53:10c)

2. Knowledge that He must bear mankind’s iniquities (Isaiah 53:11c)

3. Knowledge that He must pour out his soul unto death (Isaiah 53:12c)

4. Knowledge that He must be numbered among transgressors (Isaiah 53:12d)

5. Knowledge that He must make intercession for transgressors (Isaiah 53:12e)

(III) INAPPROPRIATE RESPONSE

1. Unbelief

“Who has believed…?” Isaiah 53:1

2. Despised and rejected (Isaiah 53:3a)

3. Poorly esteemed (Isaiah 53:3d)

4. Misunderstood (Isaiah 53:4c)

(IV) APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

1. Seek justification

a) Many will be justified ( Isaiah 53:11b )

b) But not all

2. Seek identification

a) Recognition of Jesus

b) Appreciation of Jesus

c) Deepening of knowledge of Jesus

d) Commitment to His ministry of redemption
