BEHOLD, MY SERVANT

(I) JESUS AS THE SERVANT OF THE LORD

1. Behold, My Servant (Isaiah 42:1a)

2. My Elect One whom My soul delights (Isaiah 41:1b)

(II) DIVINE SUPPORT FOR MINISTRY

1. The Anointing of the Spirit

“I have put My Spirit upon Him” Isaiah 42:1c

“He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him” Matthew 4:16d

2. The upholding of Jesus

“Whom I uphold …” Isaiah 42:1

(III) THE CHARACTER OF JESUS

1. His voice

“He will not cry out, nor raise His voice,
Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.”
Isaiah 42:2a

2. His gentleness

“A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench.”
Isaiah 42:3

3. His strength

“He will not fail nor be discouraged” Isaiah 42:4a

(IV) THE MINISTRY OF JESUS

1. The Challenge of establishing Justice

a) He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles ( Isaiah 42:1d )

b) He will bring forth justice for truth ( Isaiah 42:3c )

c) Till He has established justice in the earth ( Isaiah 42:4b )

2. An On-going work

a) Through Judicial systems

b) Through the Church

c) Through individual believers

3. Completion of this work

a) At the Return of the Lord Jesus

b) He will fully establish justice in His reign in the Millennial Kingdom

(V) CHALLENGE TO PARTAKE OF A HEAVENLY CALLING

“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,
Who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, AS Moses also was faithful in all His house.”
Hebrews 3:1-2

1. We have a heavenly calling too

2. Let us consider the Example of Jesus

3. Let us seek to be faithful to our calling
