I WILL HEAL YOUR BACKSLIDINGS
(I) AWARENESS OF THE GRAVE PROBLEM OF BACKSLIDINGS
“You backsliding children…” Jeremiah 3:22
1. Defining what backsliding is
a) It is turning away from God and being wayward
b) It is the heart relapsing / reverting to sin and error again
c) It is a recurring problem of many backslidings (Jeremiah 14:7)
2. The treachery of deliberate backsliding (Jeremiah 3:10)
3. The consequences of backsliding
a) Those backsliding will be rebuked by it (Jeremiah 2:19)
b) No blessing from God (Jeremiah 3:3)
c) The Lord’s anger and judgment (Jeremiah 3:12)
(II) DEEP APPRECIATION OF GOD’S UNDERGIRDING LOVE IN HEALING OUR BACKSLIDINGS
1. Healing is an act of God and of His love
2. Undergirding everything is God’s great love
a) A Father’s deep love (Jeremiah 3:4)
b) A Husband’s deep love (Jeremiah 3:14)
3. Expressions of this undergirding love
a) The Lord’s longsuffering
b) The Lord’s repeated offer of healing
c) The Lord’s staying of execution of judgment (Jeremiah 3:12)
(III) THE ACT OF HEALING OUR BACKSLIDINGS – RESTORATION
1. Repenting of our sins (Jeremiah 3:13, 25)
2. Returning to God (Jeremiah 3:1, 12)
3. Re-establishing our relationship with God as our Father through prayer
“My Father, You are the guide of my Youth” Jeremiah 3:4
“You shall call Me, “My Father!” Jeremiah 3:19
(IV) HAVING A POST HEALING ASPECT
1. Having spiritual feeding from good pastors (Jeremiah 3:15)
a) Knowledge
b) Understanding
2. Putting away sins (Jeremiah 4:1)
3. Having spiritual steadfastness (Jeremiah 4:1)
4. Being blessed in God (Jeremiah 4:2)
