Assurance of Blessing

Text: Psalm 3

(I) THE TROUBLERS OF LIFE

“LORD, how they have increased who trouble me!
Many are they who rise up against me.
Many are they who say of me,
‘There is no help for him in God.” Psalm 3:1-2

1. Trouble from Trouble-makers

a) Presence of trouble-makers

b) Increase of trouble-makers

2. Taunts of trouble-makers

a) Negative Use of the tongue

b) Cynical and barbed remarks

(II) UNTROUBLED BECAUSE OF TRUST IN THE LORD

“But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
I cried to the LORD with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill.
I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me all around.” Psalm 3:3-6

1. Trust in God

a) As a Shield

b) As the One who will give glory

c) As the One who will lift up the head in vindication

2. Wonderful expressions of Trust

a) Earnest Prayer

b) Restful Sleep

c) Freedom from fear

d) Sustained in confidence

(III) ASSURANCE OF GOD’S BLESSINGS

“Arise, O LORD;
Save me, O my God;
For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone;
You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongs to the LORD.
Your blessing is upon Your people.” Psalm 3:7-8

1. God will respond to prayers made to Him

2. God will deal with the ungodly

3. God will bring about salvation (deliverance)

4. God will pour out His blessings upon His people who trust Him
