HOW LOVELY IS YOUR TABERNACLE!

Text: Psalm 84

THE SONS OF KORAH

The Sons of Korah were a dedicated group of Levites deeply committed to the physical care of the Lord’s Tabernacle. They were serving as assistants to the Aaronic priests. Nevertheless, they possessed a great sense of love for the House of God.

1 How lovely is Your tabernacle,

O LORD of hosts!

2 My soul longs, yes, even faints

For the courts of the LORD;

My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

3 Even the sparrow has found a home,

And the swallow a nest for herself,

Where she may lay her young—

Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts,

My King and my God.

4 Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;

They will still be praising You.     Psalm 84:1-4

  1. Deep affection for the House of God

a) The Tabernacle of the Lord

b) Even the courtyard

  1. Personal Desire to be in the House of God

a) Longing to be in God’s presence

b) To the point of “fainting”

  1. Natural desire of the sparrows and swallows to be in the Lord’s House

OUR CHALLENGE

  1. To have the same affection for God’s House
  1. To develop a greater appreciation of the Lord’s Sanctuary
  1. To determine to take positive steps to learn how we may love the Lord’s House better
