THE TONGUE OF THE LEARNED
Text: Isaiah 50:4-6

THE TEACHING MINISTRY OF THE LORD JESUS
Whenever people hear the Lord Jesus teaching, they are astonished. He spoke with tremendous authority. Even His opponents and detractors wondered how He obtained His obviously deep knowledge!
A GLORIOUS REVELATION
We are given a wonderful glimpse as to how the Lord Jesus had such depth of wisdom in this prophetic word.
4 “The Lord God has given Me
The tongue of the learned,
That I should know how to speak
A word in season to him who is weary.
He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear
To hear as the learned.
5 The Lord God has opened My ear;
And I was not rebellious,
Nor did I turn away.
6 I gave My back to those who struck Me,
And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard;
I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. Isaiah 50:4-6
- The LORD God
a) He had given to the Lord Jesus a special gift
b) He was given “the tongue of the learned”
- The ability of the Lord Jesus
a) He knew how to speak a word in season to the weary
b) Thus, He was able to minister effectively
- The Part of the Lord Jesus
a) He learned to commune with the LORD each morning
b) He listened with the ear of the learned
c) He was never rebellious
WERE THERE DIFFICULTIES?
The Lord Jesus had to face suffering too! There were those who persecuted Him. But He was never afraid of suffering for the LORD God! Thus, He was able to minister so effectively!
Thank God for the example of the Lord Jesus Christ. May we be challenged to emulate His example of learning deep spiritual truths!
