A COVENANT TO THE PEOPLE

THE LORD’S WORD TO THE MESSIAH
The prophecy of the Messiah was unfolded layer by layer to Isaiah the prophet. Wonderful truths may be discovered in this prophetic word.
6 “I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness,
And will hold Your hand;
I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people,
As a light to the Gentiles,
7 To open blind eyes,
To bring out prisoners from the prison,
Those who sit in darkness from the prison house. Isaiah 42:6-7
- The Calling of the Messiah
a) God had given Him a Calling
b) He had Called the Messiah in His righteousness
- The Commitment of the LORD
a) He will hold the hand of the Messiah
b) He will keep the Messiah through thick and thin
- The Covenant that will come with the Messiah
a) He will bring forth the New Covenant
b) In this New Covenant, the Gentiles will be included
i) They will receive Light
ii) They will receive the Love of God
iii) They will receive salvation
- The Commission of the Messiah
a) He will open blind eyes
i) Literally
ii) Spiritually
b) He will bring out the prisoners
i) Entrapped by sin
ii) The Messiah will set them free
A REFRESHED APPRECIATION OF THE LORD JESUS
Let us enter into the Christmas season with freshness of heart and spirit. Let us appreciate even more deeply what our Saviour has done for us!
