THE LORD IS NOT SLACK CONCERNING HIS PROMISE

Text: 2 Peter 3

THE BIBLE IS FULL OF PROMISES OF GOD

The Bible is truly full of promises from the Lord our God.

  1. Promises in the Old Testament

a) To Abraham

b) To the children of Israel

c) To King David

d) To the Levites

e) To every worshipper of God

  1. Promises in the New Testament

a) To the Church

b) To the followers of the Lord Jesus

c) To all who serve the Lord

THE PROMISE OF THE SECOND COMIING OF THE LORD JESUS

There were some who expressed doubts as to whether this promise would be fulfilled. The Apostle Peter wrote this word to instruct and encourage all believers.

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.     2 Peter 3:8-9

  1. Our reckoning of time

a) Human reckoning of time is different from God’s reckoning

b) One day with God is like 1000 years in human time reckoning

  1. God is not slack in fulfilling His promise

a) If the Lord Jesus would return right now, many souls would be lost

b) The challenge to us is to use this time to bear witness faithfully

c) Let us be moved to help people find salvation in the Lord before He returns

LET US BE COMMITTED TO EVANGELISM
