Text: Deuteronomy 11

THE CALL TO LOVE GOD
The call to love the Lord was issued a number of times. To love the Lord should be the most natural thing to do! Yet, the reality is that we struggle with loving the Lord still.
You shall love the LORD your God
With all your heart, with all your soul,
And with all your strength.
Therefore you shall love the LORD your God,
And keep His charge, His statutes, His judgments,
And all His commandments always.
For if you carefully keep all these commandments
Which I command you to do-
To love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways,
And to hold fast to Him… Deuteronomy 6:5; 11:1, 22
DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE CALL TO LOVE GOD
There are at least three aspects that we must give our thoughts to as we look at these texts.
- A simple Call to love God
a) With all the heart
b) With all the soul
c) With all strength
- The Call to love God and keep all that He has said
a) His charge
b) His statutes
c) His judgments
d) His commandments
- The Call to love God and to walk in His way steadfastly
a) To carefully keep His commandments
b) To walk in all His ways
c) To hold fast to the Lord
THESE ASPECTS REFLECT THE FOLLOWING
When taken together, the Call to love God will reflect the following features:
- A genuine Love for God would keep growing
- A true Love for God must be reflected in the way we regard His word
- A deep Love for God would cause us to walk with Him.
- A strong Love for God would see us hold fast to Him for life
Let us be challenged to cultivate our love for the Lord our God! May the Lord then bless because of a deep sense of relationship with Him.
