HOW AWESOME ARE YOUR WORKS!
Text: Psalm 66

THE WORKS OF GOD
The Psalmist is full of wonder and praise as he dwelt on the works of God.
1 Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!
2 Sing out the honor of His name;
Make His praise glorious.
3 Say to God,
“How awesome are Your works!
Through the greatness of Your power
Your enemies shall submit themselves to You.
4 All the earth shall worship You
And sing praises to You;
They shall sing praises to Your name.” Psalm 66:1-4
- The call to offer praise to God
a) The kind of praise was well-described
i) A joyful shout
ii) This speaks of energy
iii) Exuberance is palpable
b) The word “praise”
i) This is repeated three times in this short stanza
ii) The call to praise God is strong and insistent
iii) Praise was never a placid word
- Some reasons to offer such high praise
a) Because He is worthy of honour
b) Because His works are truly awesome
c) Because of His great power
- The worship of God
a) This was a call to the whole earth
b) The greatness of God and His work cannot but be noted and praised!
OUR CHALLENGE
As we celebrate Bethany’s 40+7th Anniversary, let us ponder the following:
- The greatness of God
a) His Being
b) His attributes
- The greatness of His works
a) Seen in the way He had blessed us as a Church
b) Seen in the way He has blessed us individually
- Let us ponder how we may praise the LORD
a) With sincerity
b) With strength
Let us declared with the Psalmist, “How awesome are Your works!”
