WHOM I HAVE CREATED FOR MY GLORY

Text: Isaiah 43

THE GLORY OF THE LORD

The glory of the Lord is both intrinsic and extrinsic. His glory is to be found in His attributes. This is intrinsic glory.

God’s glory is also seen in the things that He does. His works reflect His glory extrinsically.

A WONDERFUL STATEMENT

We have a wonderful statement that the Lord made with reference to His people.

Everyone who is called by My name,

Whom I have created for My glory;

I have formed him, yes, I have made him.     Isaiah 43:7

  1. The word “everyone”

a) This must be carefully defined

b) The features are:

i)   Those who are called by the Lord’s name

ii)  This would refer to all who truly believe in the Lord God

iii) This is not a reference to the general creation of mankind

  1. This is essentially a reference to God’s “new creation”

a) The believer has been “born again”

b) God gives him a new nature

c) He is now a child of God

d) God has “called” him to salvation

  1. Three words were utilized to describe the new person the Lord has made

a) Created

b) Formed

c) Made

  1. Though the three words are synonyms each word adds value to each other

a) Creation

The first act of God

b) Formed

The second act of God

c) Made

The third act of God

CREATED FOR GLORY

In this new creation of God, His glory was in full view!

  1. God wants His new creation to reflect His glory
  1. He would do everything possible to display His glory

a) Salvation from God reflects His glory

b) Sanctification brings out the beauty of God’s holiness

c) Service to the Lord further heightens the glory of the Lord

Let us seek to glorify the Lord and His glory most consciously!
