FOR THE LORD GOD WILL HELP ME

JESUS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A SERVANT
We have come to the end of another Pulpit Theme. Our focus the last couple of months was on the Lord Jesus Christ as the Perfect Example of servanthood. In contrast, we looked at how ancient Israel failed to live up to the Lord’s expectations of servanthood.
THE PRACTICE OF MAINTAINING PERFECT SERVANTHOOD
Let us look at some of the highlights of the lessons Jesus maintained in order to maintain perfect servanthood.
- Relationship with the LORD God the Father
a) He saw God as the One who gave Him the ability to learn
b) The Father maintained His role as Teacher
c) Jesus did His part in learning well when He was on earth as a human being
- A daily experience
a) The relationship with the Father is a carefully maintained one
b) It was maintained on a daily basis
c) There was vital contact always
- God’s part
a) To teach and to impart
b) He does this lovingly
- Jesus’ part
a) Not to be rebellious
b) But to learn:
i) Diligently
ii) Obediently
CONFIDENCE OF THE LORD JESUS
The Lord Jesus did His part most admirably.
- He was fully confident of the Father’s help
- He was very sure that He would not need to be ashamed
- He set His face like a flint to fully obey God His Father
- His Father would be ever near to Him
OUR CHALLENGE
Let us seek to emulate the example of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us seek to grow our relationship with the Lord. May we be found faithful!
