A DESPONDENT NATION

Ancient Israel was a weak and despondent nation in the days of the prophet Isaiah. There were many reasons why the nation had become so weak! Four reasons may be highlighted.

  1. They had departed from the Lord
  1. They had forsaken His laws
  1. They had depended on themselves instead of the Lord
  1. They were enmeshed in sinful activities!

GOD’S GRACIOUS WORD TO THE WEARY NATION

The LORD God sent this word through His prophet Isaiah to the weary nation!

Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The everlasting God, the LORD,

The Creator of the ends of the earth neither faints nor is weary.

His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the weak,

And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Even the youths shall faint and be weary,

And the young men shall utterly fall.

But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings as eagles;

They shall run and not be weary;

They shall walk and not faint.     Isaiah 40:28-31
