COME AND SEE THE WORKS OF GOD

HOW SHOULD WE VIEW THE WORKS OF GOD?
Let us learn from Psalm 66 how we should view the works of God.
Say to God,
How awesome are Your works!
Come and see the works of God;
He is awesome in his doing toward the sons of men. Psalm 66:3, 5
1. The works of God are awesome!
- The Lord God Himself is awesome!
- The word “awesome” was correctly used.
a) The works of God create a sense of awe
b) The Person of God should cause us to feel awed when we are in His Presence
SOME AWESOME WORKS OF GOD
What were some of the awesome works of God the Psalmist highlighted?
- His enemies submit themselves to Him Psalm 66:3
- He turned the sea into dry land Psalm 66:6
- He rules by great power Psalm 66:7
- His eyes observe the nations Psalm 66:7
- He preserved lives Psalm 66:9
SOME WORKS WERE CHASTENING ONES
Some of the works of God were designed to chasten His people.
- These works tested their souls Psalm 66:10
- They refined the people Psalm 66:10
- Affliction was laid on their backs Psalm 66:11
- They went through fire and water Psalm 66:12
APPROPRIATE RESPONSES
What were some of the appropriate responses suggested?
- To offer to God worship
a) Burnt offerings
b) Paying of vows
c) These were relevant to the people in the ancient days
d) For us today, there must be thanksgiving worship!
- To offer to God
a) Prayers
b) Praise
c) Testimonies of His grace and mercy
Let us be challenged to offer to the Lord these appropriate responses too!
