A SOLEMN WORD OF WARNING

Moses gave a serious word of warning to the children of Israel. He warned them of the dangers that would arise with the passing of time.

  1. Old age Deuteronomy 4:25

a. When the people become parents

b. And they become grandparents

  1. Dangers Deuteronomy 4:25

a. Corruption takes place

b. Turning to idolatrous worship

c. Doing evil

  1. Chastisement of the Lord

a. The Lord will scatter Israel

b. They will become diminished

c. They will perish

These words proved prophetically true. These things happened to Israel after they inherited the land. Israel was defeated by the Assyrians and the Babylonians.

SEEKING THE LORD

Mercifully, a word of hope was also given. Gently, Moses highlighted this hope.

But from there you will seek the LORD your God,

And you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart

And with all your soul.                               Deuteronomy 4:29

  1. You will seek the Lord your God

a. In foreign lands

b. In distress

  1. You will find Him if you seek Him

a. With all your heart

b. With all your soul

  1. How we seek the Lord matters

a. We cannot hope to find the Lord if our heart and soul are not there

b. We must seek the Lord with genuine sincerity of heart and soul

A GREAT CHALLENGE

Let us seek the Lord appropriately. Let us spare no effort in our search for God! May we find the Lord real and precious as we seek His face!
