THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
One of the most significant things that God must do with reference to the ministry of His servants is to anoint them with the Holy Spirit.

I have put My Spirit upon Him            Isaiah 42:1

What does this text really mean? Let us ponder the following two thoughts!

  1. Approval

    a) The giving of the Holy Spirit means approval from the Lord

    b) This approval however must never be taken for granted!

  2. Authority

    a) The giving of the Holy Spirit also means giving of authority to the servants of the Lord

    b) This was clearly expressed by the Lord Jesus when He gave authority to His apostles

    i) Authority over demons       Mark 3:15

ii) Authority over diseases       Mark 3:15

    c) Without authority there will be dismal defeat

  3. Assurance

    a) With the giving of the Holy Spirit there comes great assurance

    b) This sense of assurance gives tremendous confidence to the servants of the Lord

    c) They feel a special sense of joy and power from the Spirit of God

TO WHOM MAY THE SPIRIT OF GOD BE OUTPOURED?

The following text is exciting to read. May our hearts be deeply moved!

For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
And floods on the dry ground;
I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants,
And My blessing on your offspring.                 Isaiah 44:3

  1. I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants

    a) Descendants are equated with offspring

    b) These are a reference to the children of God

  2. And My blessing

    a) With the Spirit of God outpoured His blessings are assured

    b) Our challenge is to be the approved servants of God

THIRSTY DRY GROUND

Do we feel dry and thirsty? Let us seek the Lord to give us spiritual water that will quench our thirst! May the Spirit of God be outpoured!
