BEHOLD, I SEND YOU THE PROMISE OF MY FATHER
Text: Luke 24:44-53

POST-RESURRECTION MINISTRY OF JESUS
With typical gentleness and love Jesus, the Risen Saviour and Lord appeared to His disciples.
1. To assure them that He had indeed risen from the dead
2. To encourage them to battle unbelief
3. To deepen their faith in Him
4. To commission them to preach the Gospel and to make disciples of all nations
PROMISE OF GOD THE FATHER
The Lord Jesus had given to His disciples a huge task indeed. However, they need not fear for He gave them these most assuring words.
Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you;
But tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power
From on high. Luke 24:49
1. Behold, I send
a) Jesus had every right to say these words
b) He had prayed to the Father that the Holy Spirit might be given to His disciples
c) He had risen from the dead and He has been given all authority and power
d) He was sending the Holy Spirit
2. The Promise of My Father
a) The Holy Spirit and His ministry was prophesied by Isaiah and Joel especially
b) This was the Father’s promise
c) This Promise would be fulfilled when He came upon the disciples
3. Tarry… until you are endued with power from on high
a) This was the part of the Disciples
b) They must wait upon the Lord
i) The disciples did wait upon the Lord
ii) They prayed much
iii) They prepared themselves for ministry
THE SPIRIT OF GOD TODAY
The Spirit of God continues to be the Person who must empower us for life and for ministry!
