THE IMPORTANCE OF REMEMBERING

Forty years had passed since the children of Israel were delivered from bondage in Egypt. What they had experienced in Egypt was not meant to be taken for granted. They were to be remembered!

PRACTICAL ADVICE OF HOW TO REMEMBER WELL

What are some practical things we can do to remember what the Lord has done for us?

“Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD
Commanded you…” Joshua 1:13

1. Remembering the word given

a) At first this was just a verbal word

b) In time it became a written word

c) It became inscripturated

d) It would require effort from us to remember the word of God

2. Active remembering

a) It would take deliberate effort

b) It may take revision from time to time

c) Every effort must be made to memorise the word given

d) There must be conscious and careful commitment to obey the word

3. Connect the word to the person who gave the instruction

a) In this case it was Moses

b) The personal element is not without significance

c) Moses had led the children of Israel outstandingly

d) His word ought to be remembered with great fondness

THE DIVINE SOURCE

Ultimately, one of the best ways to remember is to understand that all the words given by Moses had a Divine Source.

1. It was God who gave the word to Moses

2. It was God who gave both the inspiration and the instruction

3. It should make a whole lot of difference when we remember God as the Divine Source

OUR CHALLENGE TODAY

We may be living in a different era, but we are no less blessed!

1. We have the entirety of the Scriptures to give us a greater perspective of life

2. We have the Spirit of God to help us in our comprehension of the Scriptures

3. Let us determine to do our part in remembering all that the Lord has commanded us!
