Text: Jeremiah 31
“I will be the God of all families of Israel, and they shall be My People” Jeremiah 31:1
1. The people
a) They survived the sword
b) Found grace in the wilderness
c) Israel, when I went to give him rest Jeremiah 31:2
2. God’s love
a) I have loved you with an everlasting love
b) Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you Jeremiah 31:3
3. Re-building
a) I will build you and you shall be rebuilt Jeremiah 31:4
b) You shall plant vines
The planters shall plant and eat them as ordinary food Jeremiah 31:5
4. Zion
a) Arise, let us go up to Zion
b) To the LORD our God Jeremiah 31:6
5. Praise
a) Tambourines and dances Jeremiah 31:4
b) Sing with gladness Jeremiah 31:7
c) Proclaim O LORD, save Your people,
The remnant of Israel Jeremiah 31:7
6. Response from God
a) Behold, I will bring them back from the north country
And gather them from the ends of the earth Jeremiah 31:8
i) The blind
ii) The lame
iii) The woman with child
iv) The one who labours with child
v) A great throng shall return there Jeremiah 31:8
b) With deep feelings
i) With weeping
ii) With supplications Jeremiah 31:9
c) Father to Israel
Ephraim is My firstborn Jeremiah 31:9
d) Leading
i) I will lead them
ii) I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters
iii) In a straight way in which they will not stumble Jeremiah 31:9
e) Shepherd
i) The Lord will gather scattered Israel
ii) As a shepherd looks after his flock Jeremiah 31:10
f) Redemption
Ransomed Jeremiah 31:11
g) Zion
i) Singing Jeremiah 31:12
ii) Souls like well-watered garden Jeremiah 31:12
iii) Rejoicing Jeremiah 31:13
iv) Comfort Jeremiah 31:13
v) Satisfaction (abundance) Jeremiah 31:14
h) Hope in the future Jeremiah 31:17
i) Blessings Jeremiah 31:23
7. A New Covenant envisioned
a) Not according to the old covenant which they broke Jeremiah 31:31-32
b) I will be their God and they shall be My People Jeremiah 31:33-34
i) I will put My law in their minds
ii) And write it on their hearts
iii) All will know the LORD
iv) I will forgive their iniquity
v) Their sin I will remember no more
A CHALLENGE TO EMBRACE THE NEW COVENANT
1. Established by the Lord Jesus with His blood Luke 22:20
2. To follow the Lord and to continue with Him Luke 5:11; 22:28
AWESOME WORD OF BLESSING
1. I bestow upon you a kingdom Luke 22:29
2. That you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom Luke 22:30
3. And sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel Luke 22:30
