(I) ENDLESS PROBLEMS IN LIFE

1. The presence of the wicked (Psalm 71:4a)

2. The activities of the unrighteous and cruel (Psalm 71:4b)

3. The wicked plots of enemies (Psalm 71:10-11, 13, 24)

(II) FACING PERENNIAL PROBLEMS EFFECTIVELY

1. Taking all problems to God in prayer

a) Praying that God would incline His ear ( Psalm 71:2b )

b) Praying for deliverance ( Psalm 71:2a, 4 )

2. Trusting in God as deeply as possible

a) Placing trust in God ( Psalm 71:1a, 5b )

b) Continuing trust to be exercised even as prayers are offered

3. Exercising great hope in God

a) Establishing our hope in God ( Psalm 71:5a )

b) Determining never to lose hope in God ( Psalm 71:14 )

4. Dwelling on Knowledge of God and experiences with the Lord

a) God’s hand at birth ( Psalm 71:6 )

b) God’s hand in youth ( Psalm 71:5, 17 )

c) God’s hand in old age ( Psalm 71:9, 18 )

(III) IN THE STRENGTH OF THE LORD

1. An expression of faith in God’s provision of strength

“I will go in the strength of the LORD God” Psalm 71:16a

2. A strong faith concerning the future

“You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, shall revive me again, and bring me up again from the depths of the earth.You shall increase my greatness, and comfort me from every side.” Psalm 71:20-21

3. A strong and unwavering faith in who God is

“Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high,You who have done great things;O God, who is like You?” Psalm 71:19

4. A strong determination to always sing praises to God

“Also with the lute I will praise You-And Your faithfulness, O my God!To You I will sing with the harp,O Holy One of Israel.My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You,And my soul, which You have redeemed.” Psalm 71:22-23
