THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE FULFILMENT OF PROPHECY
1. The prophecy concerning the Messiah King
“Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion” Psalm 2:6
a. It is focused on the Messiah King
b. God has set His Son as the Messiah King
2. This prophecy was partially fulfilled at the birth of Christ
a. Christ was born as a baby and would become the Messiah King
b. Christ would become a King greater than David
i. There was no king then and people were longing for a king like David
ii. Christ would become the divine King greater than any human king like David
c. Christ commenced His ministry by personally inviting all to enter into His kingdom (Matthew 4:17)
THE CONTINUING FULFILMENT OF PROPHECY
1. Today, the prophecy of the Messiah continues
a. The Lord Jesus continues to be Messiah.
i. He continues to reign… “Our God reigns”
ii. Even though there will be those who oppose Christ, He still reigns.
“Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed,” Psalm 2:1, 2
b. The Kingdom of God continues to thrive
c. The prophecy continues to be fulfilled
2. The continuity of having faith in the Messiah King
a. The call continues to be given for people to enter into the kingdom of Christ
b. Many people continue to enter into the Kingdom
c. Many continue to have faith in the Lord and in His kingdom
d. We seek to continue to believe and to do our part in the kingdom of God
THE CULMINATION OF THE FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY
1. The future culmination of the fulfilment of prophecy
“Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion” Psalm 2:6
a. It would be completely fulfilled
b. Christ will be placed as King on Zion
c. This aspect of the prophecy will only be fulfilled in the future…in the Millennium Kingdom
