I WILL SING AND GIVE PRAISE

(I) PROBLEMS IN LIFE

1. Enemies described as “lions” (Psalm 57:4a)

2. Enemies who are on fire for evil purposes (Psalm 57:4b)

3. The weapons of these enemies

a) Teeth are like spears and swords

b) Tongue like a sharp sword ( Psalm 57:4c )

4. They are like hunters

a) They use nets

b) They dig pits ( Psalm 57:6 )

(II) POWER OF PRAYER

1. Crying out to God

a) For His mercy ( Psalm 57:1 )

b) For His protection ( Psalm 57:1b )

c) As “God Most High” ( Psalm 57:2 )

2. Exercising trust in prayer (Psalm 57:1b)

3. Exercising faith in God’s refuge (Psalm 57:1c)

4. Believing that God will send Divine Help (Psalm 57:2-3)

a) God has always performed wondrously ( Psalm 57:2b )

b) He will send help from heaven ( Psalm 57:3a )

c) He will reproach the enemy ( Psalm 57:3b )

d) He will grant Mercy ( Psalm 57:3c )

(III) PROMISE TO BE STEADFAST IN PRAISE

1. Heart seeks to be steadfast (Psalm 57:7a)

2. Heart will sing and give praise (Psalm 57:7b)

3. Heart will practise steadfastness in offering praise

a) Awakening each morning with a song of praise ( Psalm 57:8 )

b) Praising God ( Psalm 57:9 )

i) To His People

ii) To the nations

c) Theme of the songs of praise ( Psalm 57:10 )

i) God’s Mercy

ii) God’s assuring word of truth

d) Goal ( Psalm 57:11 )

i) To exalt God

ii) To declare His glory
