Leaving Us an Example

OUR CONNECTION TO THE LORD JESUS

1. He suffered for us   (1 Peter 2:21)

2. He sacrificed Himself for us   (1 Peter 2:24)

3. He is our Saviour   (1 Peter 2:24)

4. He is our Shepherd   (1 Peter 2:25)

5. Our appreciation of Him

a. He is gracious   (1 Peter 2:2)
b. He is precious   (1 Peter 2:7)

FOLLOWING THE LORD JESUS AS LITTLE CHILDREN

“as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby”   1 Peter 2:2

1. Newborn babes

a. A reference to those who are newer in faith
b. A reference to those who have faith but do not know much about it

2. Following Jesus as little children

a. Newness
b. Purity
c. Growth

3. Corresponds with the idea of “example” used in 1 Peter 2:21

a. An imagery of a writing tool to aid beginners in learning the alphabet
b. What it implies
i. It is not hard to learn from the example of Jesus
ii. We can learn it little by little
iii. It can become a part of us
