THE GRACE OF GOD THAT BRINGS SALVATION

(I) THE SALVATION THAT THE GRACE OF GOD BRINGS

For the grace of God that brings salvation…” Titus 2:11

1. Salvation is a big doctrine.

2. Salvation is given despite our sinfulness

“For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.” Titus 3:3

3. Salvation comes through the person of the Lord Jesus

“…our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13

a) His sacrifice

“Who gave Himself for us…” Titus 2:14

b) His redemption

“…that He might redeem us from every lawless deeds.” Titus 2:14

c) His justification

“That having been justified by His grace we should be heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:7

4. Salvation comes through the work of the Holy Spirit

a) The regeneration of the Holy Spirit

“…He saved us, through the washing of regeneration…of the Holy Spirit” Titus 3:5

b) The pouring out of the Holy Spirit on us

“Whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour.” Titus 3:6

(II) THE APPEARANCE OF THE GRACE OF GOD THAT BRINGS SALVATION

1. It appeared in a spectacular way through the Lord Jesus

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.” Titus 2:11

2. It is meant for all men

“…has appeared to all men.” Titus 2:11

a) It is not just for the elect

b) It is a grace that has appeared to all men

(III) THE RAMIFICATIONS OF THE GRACE OF GOD THAT BRINGS SALVATION

1. Training of our lives to live rightly

“Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.” Titus 2:12

2. Having a great hope in Christ’s return

“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13

3. Being part of God’s people

“…and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for Good works.” Titus 2:14
