WHO HAS SHONE IN OUR HEARTS

 

(I) THE POWERFUL LIGHT THAT GOD HAD COMMANDED TO SHINE FORTH

“For it is God who commanded light to out of darkness…” 2 Corinthians 4:6

1. The prophecy concerning people in darkness seeing a great light (Isaiah 9:2)

2. The light of the Lord Jesus shining in darkness (John 1:5, 9)

3. Jesus as the light of the world (John 8:12)

(II) THE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF LIGHT SHINING IN OUR HEARTS

“Who has shone in our hearts…” 2 Corinthians 4:6

1. Through the knowledge of the gospel

“To give the light of the knowledge of glory of God…” 2 Corinthians 4:6

2. Through seeing the Lord Jesus for who He is

“In the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6

3. Through the mercies of God

“As we have received mercy….” 2 Corinthians 4:1

 

(III) THE PERSONAL CHALLENGE TO LET THE LIGHT OF THE GOSPEL SHINE IN US

1. Not losing heart in ministry

“Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart…” 2 Corinthians 4:1


2. Having the centrality of Christ in ministry

“For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus the Lord…” 2 Corinthians 4:5

3. Being a bondservant of Christ

“And ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake….” 2 Corinthians 4:5
