UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE WORK OF THE LORD IS

“For the work which they had completed…”   Acts 14:26

1. The work of establishing a church

a) People need to be won to the Lord
b) People need to be taught the word of God
c) People need to guided
d) People need to learn to serve

2. The work of missions

a) Local missions
b) Overseas missions

FULFILLING THE WORK THAT IS ENTRUSTED TO US

“For the work which they had completed…”   Acts 14:26

1. Having the right kind of people

a) Filled with the Spirit   (Acts 13:2, 4)
b) Faithful in the work
i) Faithful in fulfilling lesser tasks   (Acts 12:25)
ii) Faithful in preaching the gospel   (Acts 13:5, 13:16-41, 14:3, 7, 20, 21)

2. Having the right kind of work attitude

a) Humble attitude
i) They submitted to the other leaders   (Acts 13:2)
ii) They relied on the grace of God   (Acts 14:26)
b) Persevering attitude
i) Paul persevered despite facing constant opposition and suffering   (Acts 14:19)
ii) John Mark did not press on   (Acts 13:13)

FINDING FULLNESS OF IT ALL WITHIN THE WORK OF THE LORD

1. Strengthening the work   (Acts 14:21-22)

a) Strengthening the souls of the disciples
b) Exhorting them to continue in the faith

2. Proper leadership in place   (Acts 14:23)

3. Reflecting on the Lord’s hand in ministry   (Acts 14:27)

4. Doing what is required of us to complete the work
