THOSE WHO TRUST IN THE LORD ARE LIKE MOUNT ZION

(I) THE PERSPECTIVE OF TRUST
1. Where once there was no trust
a) Where the people were in captivity
b) 70 years without God
2. Building up their trust as they returned
a) They recognised that if it had not been for the Lord…things would not be what it was ( Psalm 124:1, 2 )
b) Looking up to the Lord ( Psalm 123:1 )
c) Seek God for help ( Psalm 121:1 )
3. A definite perspective of trust
“Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.” Psalm 125:1
(II) THE POWER OF TRUST
“Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.” Psalm 125:1
1. A comparison of power
a) A person who trust the Lord is compared to Mount Zion
b) Like Mount Zion, one is can be strong and solid
2. The power to be immovable
a) Mount Zion as a mountain cannot be moved.
b) This person who trust has the power to be immovable
3. The power to abide
a) Mount Zion has the power to abide at its place forever…being steadfast
b) A person of trust will also have the power to be steadfast
(III) THE PROTECTION THAT COMES WITH TRUST
1. Surrounded by God
“As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.” Psalm 125:2
a) Jerusalem was surrounded by mountains
b) Imagery of God surrounding His people
2. Secured protection for the righteous
“For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity.” Psalm 125:3
a) For those who are righteous, there is a wonderful sense of protection.
b) The wicked shall find not prevail
(IV) THE PRAYER OF TRUST
1. Praying for the Lord’s goodness
“Do good, O LORD, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts.” Psalm 125:4
a) Asking God to do good
b) Asking in trust
2. Concerning those who have turned aside
“As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them away with the workers of iniquity.” Psalm 125:5
a) Some had turned away and have not returned
b) The Lord would deal with them accordingly
3. A prayer of blessing of peace for others
“Peace be upon Israel!” Psalm 125:5
a) Concerned for the nation
b) A blessing of peace upon all
