THE CROWN OF PRIDE

“Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim”   Isaiah 28:1

1. A reference to the kings of Israel

a. They had lifted themselves in pride
b. Warning was given to them

2. A negative aspect highlighted: drunkedness

a. What it represents
i. Lavish lifestyle i.e. drinking parties
ii. Abuse of success
iii. Indulgence
iv. Worldliness
b. What it results in
i. They are swallowed by wine
ii. The leaders err and stumble
iii. The Lord will bring them down

A CROWN OF GLORY

“In that day the Lord of hosts will be for a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty to the remnant of His people”   Isaiah 28:5

1. A reference to the Messiah King in the future

2. Contrast of the Messiah King with the kings of Israel

a. He will rule with justice (Isaiah 28:6)
b. He will rule with strength (Isaiah 28:6)
c. He will teach those who would hear (Isaiah 28:9-10)
