Called into the Fellowship of His Son

CALLED INTO THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SON

1. The Person who calls us – God   (1 Corinthians 1:9)

a. He speaks to us
b. He relates to us

2. What we are called to

a. Not only salvation
b. But also the fellowship of His Son   (1 Corinthians 1:9)

THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SON

Cf. 1 John 1

1. An example of people who had fellowship with Jesus – the disciples

a. They spent three years with Him
b. They were in constant close contact with Him

2. The experience of their fellowship

a. Jesus made Himself known to the disciples
b. They came to know Jesus as the Word of Life
i. He taught and exemplified the Word of God to them
ii. He gave life to them
iii. He is the Eternal Life who was with the Father from the beginning

3. We can experience the same fellowship today

a. We are called into the same fellowship with the Father and His Son
b. As we enter into fellowship with each other, we are also enter into fellowship with God
c. We can have joy that is full!

THE EXPRESSIONS OF FELLOWSHIP

1. We walk in the light, in contrast to walking in darkness

a. As God is light
b. In Him there is no darkness at all

2. To walk in the light

a. We take time to do kind things
b. Even if they seem small (cf. Matthew 25 “to the least of these”)

EVERY ENCOURAGEMENT TO HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH EACH OTHER

1. All of us are called into the fellowship of His Son

a. It does not matter what background we are from
b. Each has his own place in God’s purpose

2. There is also strength in fellowship

a. We can encourage each other
b. We can strengthen each other
